Film & Creative Sector Voices Heard at CEO Forum Retreat
The President of Producers Guild of Uganda, Mr. Mathew Nabwiso, represented Uganda’s film and wider creative sector at the 6th Bi-annual Presidential CEO Forum Retreat, presenting industry challenges directly to the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja.
In his remarks, Nabwiso highlighted the sector’s untapped potential in driving job creation, GDP growth, and global visibility for Ugandan stories.
He emphasized the urgent need for:
- A National Film Commission and film policy.
- Regional content creator hubs to build capacity.
- A national creator registry and e-portal to empower and map talent.
- A national film fund to support competitive productions.
“The creative sector is booming in Uganda, yet creators face barriers to formal monetization on platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram,” Nabwiso stressed.
The Prime Minister applauded the Presidential CEO Forum for championing economic growth through strong public-private partnerships, and industry players remain hopeful that the proposed solutions will be acted upon for greater results.
At Cinema UG, we believe such platforms are critical in shaping the future of Uganda’s film and creative industry. With the right frameworks, our stories can shine brighter on the global stage.
